Artemis II Astronauts Return From Farthest Human Moon Trip
The Artemis II crew just got back to Earth after flying farther from home than any humans in history. The mission took them around the moon and back, marking NASA’s biggest crewed achievement since the Apollo program ended in 1972.
The astronauts traveled roughly 270,000 miles from Earth during the flight. They orbited the moon, collected data, and tested systems that’ll be used for future lunar landings. Everything went according to plan—no major issues, no surprises that broke bad.
This is the second crewed Artemis mission. The first one in 2022 was an uncrewed test flight that proved the capsule and rockets work. This time, actual people were on board, pushing the envelope on deep space travel. The successful return means NASA’s lunar program is back on track after decades of focusing on Earth orbit.
